Nicole and I started dating and soon fell in love in 1996.  We were married in 2000.  With no children and a dual income marriage, we enjoyed life together to the fullest.

Over time however, stresses began to add up, including the stresses of demanding professional careers, and the stresses that come with having children.

With these stresses our marriage began to gradually suffer over time.  After many years we found our marriage in a place that was too many times making us both feel unfulfilled and without joy.  We were not meeting each other’s needs.

I was not receiving the honor and respect that is important to a man.  I felt unappreciated and taken for granted.  Likewise, Nicole was not receiving from me the “leadership” to care for our marriage and to take whatever actions necessary to keep our marriage vibrant.  Too many times I would shut down communication and go silent. We arrived at a breaking point.

As this breaking point began to unfold, we were truly blessed by God at precisely the right time to be introduced to Jimmy and Karen Evans.  We both read one of their books, “The Four Laws of Love”.  Other than the Holy Bible, for us it is the most impactful source of information regarding what it takes to have a healthy marriage.  It helped us to identify and understand for the first time our own iniquities that were harming our marriage.  It provided the perspective for us to break these iniquities and to rid these from our lives.
